Inside the Idea

So, here I am, 30, happily married mother of 2 wonderful boys, an online marketing professional and a musician. I'd like to use just one of those to describe myself, but it just wouldn't be complete. I am who I am, and at 30, I definitely know what that means.

Hispanic Internet Marketing

US and International Hispanics are among the largest growing minorities on the internet.  Each Hispanic market presents a tremendous opportunity for marketers who know how to harness the power of targeting this demographic.

Marketing to a Hispanic audience presents a different type of challenge than that of marketing to a regular US demographic.  That is because there are so many types of Hispanics out there.  Think about how many Spanish speaking countries there are in total, not to mention UIS Hispanics.

Hispanics are separated into two groups, one is US Hispanics and the other is International Hispanics.  The International can be separated into another 4 groups based on geographic regions, Europeans from Spain, Central American, South American and Caribbean Hispanics.

This is a very general breakdown, because in actuality, every country has its own social issues, politics, economy and dialect which affect how each campaign may be perceived.

This section of my site will focus on general resources for Hispanic Internet Marketing and then I will break down the actual geographic regions along with resources for each.

There is a good article written by Martin Heiman for MarketingProfs.  In his April 12, 2005 article Reaching the Hispanic Market Online, he describes three main issues concerning this market segment.  Although this is not an exhaustive list, it's definitely a great start! These are the three issues:

  1. Language translation
  2. Cultural adaptation
  3. Understanding the Hispanic online marketplace

Hispanic Marketing Resources:

These are a few of  the resources I visit either daily, weekly or monthly to keep tabs on the Hispanic marketing industry.

  1. AdAge Hispanic Marketing - sign up for their email alerts. Let's you know what the big guys are doing to target this market.

  2. HispanicBusiness.com - an industry staple.

  3. QuePasa.com - just for fun.

  4. Hispanic Marketing & Communication Association - doing some great things for this industry

  5. HireDiversity.com - a great employment site for hispanics.

Drop me an email to let me know of any resources you would like suggest.

Creating creating creating

Man do I love to create.  This week was a fruitfull week both on the corporate front, family front and music front.

Work: caught up on some stuff, which was much needed after the tradeshow.  Now I can focus on the new hire coming in tomorrow and the interview for the 2nd new hire.  We're growing by leaps and bounds (silly cliche). It's very exciting, and I love working for someone who is so excited about what we do that the feeling is very contagious.

Music: I wrote one new song, wrote some hooks for a friend's hip-hop song and I rehearsed a new set with a friend.  I was also contacted to do a gig at a gallery, so I have to work on getting that coordinated - shoudl be extremely fun!

Family: My family rocks. It's a little one (my husband and 2 boys), since I don't really communicate with my father, nor do I care to, and my mom is going through the "I just got divorced and need to party my ass off to make up for the last 31 years" stage.

Anyway, my boys are great and hubby is wonderful.  I woke everyone up at 8AM yesterday (I was up at 7) and we took a nice, 3 mile walk to the dunkin doughnuts.  We got coffee & bagels (douhgnuts for the boys) and went to the park.  Then we headed back home.  I love doing stuff like that.  I can dig a good movie at the theater, but nothing tops spending talking and playing time with the family. I never really had that and I guess I enjoy it so much because of that.

It's bee a great weekend.

peace all

Outside the Box has become THE box

I know I'm in the majority of late when I say that, "Think outside the box" has become the most annoying of all cliche's.

I say, there are so many ways to bring home the idea of new thinking and innovation that it's really sad that "outside the box" has become such a standard term. I've even seen it on several resumes and job listings. That's just scary.

Now, that does not mean that I haven't succummed to using it as well. Goodness only knows how many times I've regurgitated those words for a client only to see thier eyes glass over with sheer adulation. eeck, the shame.

So, I have made it a conscious choice to create new terms for innovative thought, other than "outside the box".

peace,

Danay
