Fun Facts on President’s Day

Every President’s Day we set aside time to celebrate our 45 American presidents.

Did you know that the official name of this holiday is Washington’s Birthday?

In honor of the holiday, I decided to share some interesting facts about our presidents.

• On the day he was shot, Lincoln told his bodyguard that he had dream that he would be assassinated.
• Lincoln also used to store documents in his tall stove-pipe hat.
• Honest Abe was the tallest president at 6 feet 4 inches tall.
• Teddy Roosevelt was blind in his left eye due to an injury in a boxing match.
• Woodrow Wilson is the only president buried in Washington D.C. He
  was buried at the Washington National Cathedral.
• Barack Obama won a Grammy Award in 2006 for his voice on the audio book Dreams From My Father.
  
• Martin Van Buren was the first president to be born as a citizen of the United States. The presidents before him were born as British subjects.
• The first president to have his photograph taken while in office was
  James K. Polk.
• William Henry Harrison died just 32 days after becoming president. He died from a cold he got while standing in the rain giving his inauguration speech.
• John F. Kennedy was the first president who was a Boy Scout.
  
• George Washington gave freedom to his slaves in his will.
• Washington was the only president unanimously elected. Meaning all of the state representatives voted for him.
